CARIBBEAN SPICE, SAINT BARTH'S BUCKET REGATTA

Feel your sails straining in fresh wind, the spray dousing the crew as you fly in glorious sunshine under a full canopy. Yeah, the excitement of running at regatta. Sailors join in their hundreds, drawn by the possibility of winning starting lines, executing smooth rounding marks and perfecting manoeuvres under competition pressure. For a potent mix of close racing, legendary parties and sublime heat, add a drop ofCaribbean spice.

Every year the world's most spectacular super yachts gather in Gustavia harbour for the prestigious St. Barth's Bucket. The first regatta in St Barts itself was held in 1995 with four yachts; Sariyah, Gleam, Mandalay and Parlay. This year, 30 boats will compete in the race that will take place on March 19th – 22nd.

The St Barts Bucket Regatta is an invitation only regatta. Cruising yachts whose length is 30.5 meters or greater are offered to participate. The 2020 regatta will also offer a 'Corinthian Spirit (Les Voiles Blanche)' class. The regatta features top-notch racing and exclusive shore side social events, all in a breathtaking Caribbean setting. Described by Forbes magazine as a "gathering of swells", it boasts over a quarter century of history and tradition. These yachts under sail are a sight to behold!

The 2020 St Barts Bucket participates in Clean Regattas  — The world's leading sustainability certification for all on-the-water, near-the-water, and water-loving events. Since the program's inception in 2006, over 2,300 events have shown their commitments to sustainability by hosting Clean Regattas. This program has reached over 660,000 sailors and attendees in over 40 countries.

Also, a portion of the entry fee is donated to a meaningful non-profit program in St Barts. For 2019, the entry portion was donated to the Help Saint Barth — St Barth Initiative. It is the official collective of non-profit organisations that the Collectivité de Saint Barthélemy has handpicked to help the island's continuing recovery in the aftermath of hurricane Irma. This includes reconstruction, victim assistance and helping nature take its course though the ongoing restoration of the island's beautiful resources.
